A Home Repair Program for Older Adults in Islandview and surrounding neighborhoods
The Greater Villages Aging in Community Initiative (GVAIC) enables homeowners ages 55+ to age with dignity, stability, and connection. Through targeted home safety and resiliency improvements, the program strengthens the ability of older adults to remain active, engaged participants in the Islandview and Greater Villages community. Eligible home repair and improvement falls into three categories: accessibility, affordability, and activity.
Beginning Summer 2026, the program will open to older adult homeowners who reside between Grand Blvd and Van Dyke to the east and west, and between St. Paul and Vernor to the north and south. If funding allows, the program will be expanded to include adjacent neighborhoods.
